So the pope's coming to town, right? Well, not this town, but close enough that the effects of trying to double a city's size for a couple of days with young 'pilgrims' means that we'll be inundated with all the kathlik skool kiddies who weren't cool enough to actually be housed in the same city as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. The build up is in earnest now, with extra sources of water (i.e. taps) being set up all over the place. Which just increases the fear factor, because they're actually planning for them to be everywhere. Like a rash.
But a word of advice to the holy. The club called Gloria may not be the house of God you might be expecting. Although you could find a couple of Greek Adonises there, if you know what I mean.

Memorabilia
Presumably papal visits generate a preponderance of suitably tacky commemorative items - I'm thinking tea towels, coffee cups, maybe even a drink holder (soft drink, of course) ... do hope you can provide descriptions of examples, if not a sample of the genuine article to put next to your Charles and Di Wedding chinaware. Even better, maybe there will be some subversive anti-papal paraphernalia ... every good event deserves to be reduced to merchandise ...August 27 2005, 17:59:53 UTC 6 years ago
Re: Memorabilia
There were lots of obvious stuff like posters, etc. I have a newspaper article somewhere (in both English and German, to cater for our 'guests' giving a positive spin to the marketing efforts). The woman I share my office with was most taken aback by a glasses case. But really, I was trying to avoid it all as much as possible...Imagine if we still lived on the same street as the synagoge - I'm sure getting home that day would have been lots of fun...

You thought so, too?
This guy so looks like Palpatine, it's almost scary... Especially on the Misereor posters. Anyways, even while being at the center of hell, we survived---though still licking our wounds. If we lose our match on Saturday, we'll know who to blame.sus.
